Harrington Jacket: Birthday Gift | Top: Newlook | Jeans: Topshop | Shoes: Dr Martens

This week I've taken a leaf out of my Mother's youth. My taste in fashion is forever growing  and this week, while putting this outfit together, I realised something; I have become a figure of my Mother's past. A Harrington and a classic pair DM's were not only part of her fashion sense in the early 80's, but they are now mine too.

Since discovering this look through my Mums skinhead days, I've been after a Harrington, but finding one small enough was a different matter entirely. Somehow, against all odds, I now have one that fits perfectly.

The aspect I love most about these jackets is the infamous tartan lining - as you know I'm a fan of the tartan pattern and I can't wait to pair it with virtually everything I own. For this post, I wanted to keep the rest of the outfit simple. I think a pair of skinny jeans and a plain tee did the look justice and keeps everything casual, just the way I like it.
There's no other footwear that could complete this look which is why I stuck with my classic black DM's; the perfect combination. I really love the simplicity of this look and the culture it holds.

All in all, skinhead fashion should be celebrated much more than it already is, it's got a classic British feel and makes one hell of an outfit. So bring out your Fred Perry's and your Dr Martens, not because they are "in fashion", but because they are part of your individuality.

Until next week,
