The Trick of Tartan

Top: Topshop
Skirt: H&M
Shoes: Dr Martens

The trick of tartan is simple really, just pair your favourite piece of tartan clothing with a classic pair of Dr Martens - there's no better match. This combination goes way back to the 70's where punks and skinheads made this look a reality! I will be forever grateful to this era as this is something I always wear.

I also wore one of my favourite black crop tops. The deep v neck and ribbon buckle straps made this unique piece  of clothing call out to me instantly. This goes so well with my pleated tartan skirt; they both meet at the perfect point which doesn't emphasise too much skin and yet just enough in my eyes. This top also has amazing support, meaning there is absolutely no chance of a wardrobe malfunction, if you know what I mean. I think any girl would agree that this is a big factor when buying clothes.

My chosen piece of tartan, in the form of a skirt, is perfect in every way; the pleats are traditional and vintage, the colour scheme is simply black and red - my 2 favourite colours and the red matches my current hair colour perfectly.
I wish I had more to write regarding this outfit but it's somewhat of a simple look. I think the saying 'less is more' describes it down to a 'T' and leaves the focus to fall upon the tartan.

Let me know if you like this look. I hope I have inspired you to add a touch of punk and skinhead fashion into your lives; it's certainly something to celebrate.
